What’s in my Makeup Bag?

Hi guys,

I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and do a ‘Whats in my Makeup Bag’ post as I see it going around so much and I just love seeing what others use and maybe some good finds I can pick up. My make up bag is quite large just because I am going to do quite a bit of travelling until the end of August starting next week so I figured it’s better to just take a more spacious bag so that way I can throw everything I need in there and it won’t be falling out all over the place! I recently just purchased this makeup bag last week at Vctoria Secret because I was in dire need of a new one since my old one wasn’t able to hold just everything I needed – and it was quite old.

So, let’s get started.

I Love You More Than Avocados… No, Not Really.

Do you believe in love at first sight? I do – but I didn’t with these things. It took me a few months of the quaint taste of this green shaped pear thing before my tastebuds finally agreed. I am now an avid lover of avocados. They are such a versatile fruit – yes, fruit. But you can eat these babies so many ways. From dicing them up in salads, to making some rockin’ guacamole – or even a face mask. This fruit is beneficial for you in so many ways – even your skin and hair!

Image

This took an easy 10 minutes to make. And here’s exactly how you do it:

  • 1 whole diced avocado
  • 1 whole diced roasted pepper
  • Cilantro
  • 1 whole diced tomato
  • Half a diced red onion
  • Some grated mozzarella cheese

Image

Ah, yes, the beloved Prosciutto is a dry-cured ham that is usually thinly sliced and served uncooked. It’s an italian cold cut – and tastes like heaven, especially paired with some avocado on top.

  • 2 whole grain toasts
  • 1/2 sliced avacado
  • 3 slices of prosciutto
  • Baby spinach
  • Diced red onions
  • Tiny bit of low fat mayo
  • Bocconcini cheese – an italian mozzerlla cheese thats about a size of an egg (drool).

My Winter Must Haves

beauty

Alright, so if you’re lucky enough to live somewhere where it’s hot this time of year – I’m in envy of you. I just honestly can not stand the cold. However, these products can – and that’s why they’re my must haves and favourites for this winter season.

1. Witch Hazel – If you haven’t heard of this stuff then you’ve been missing out! This stuff is all natural and great for problem skin, dryness, acne scars, moisturizing, and the things it can treat are endless – I even know people who use it as a scalp treatment. It’s a multi purpose product but for me I use it as a toner after I cleanse my face in the morning. Beware, the stink is kind of odd – but it does leave your face feeling refreshed.

Price? $10.00

2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel – Can that name be any longer? Jeez. But this product is great to say the least. It’s aimed for combination to oily skin and although very moisturizing it leaves the face non greasy (which I love), but hydrates it enough to quench your skin especially in cold whether like this. A+ for this baby.

Price? $32.00

3. Ah, Miss Cherie Dior – Overpriced? Yes. Worth it? Hell yes. I have to admit when it comes to beauty products sometimes I splurge.. But hey, if it’s a great product I find it’s worth it. Like they say, “1 expensive good quality handbag is better than 5 cheap purses.” Or is that just my own theory? That being said, this stuff is great if you just want minimal coverage but still wanting to maintain a fresh glow. It lasts all day, so far I find, and if you want to make sure it stays that extra mile – just puff on some setting powder and you’re good to go.

Price? $44.00

4. The Famous MAC Angel Lipstick – Yes, Kim Kardashians favourite lipstick, but before the Kardashian craze this was my first lipstick to purchase at MAC and I’ve loved it ever since. This lipstick compliments every skin tone from fair to dark skinned and is also moisturizing as well.

Price? $19.00

5. NARS Pennylane Cream Blush – I hands down love this stuff. It’s great for a natural look, with a bit of shimmer but not too overpowering. It’s best worn over a liquid foundation (not powder) and best applied with your fingers (the heat of your fingers will melt the product with an airbrush look onto your cheeks). It’s a light pinky-mauve blush with a golden undertone that makes the cheeks radiate and overall make your face look more brightened and more alive.

Price? $32.00

6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Kit – I can not rave enough about this kit, it’s definitely my holy grail eyebrow product. Yes, a bit on the pricey side but it will last quite the while. With 3 different options for blondes, brunettes/black, and redheads it caters to all eyebrow shades. It comes with a duo eyebrow powder (lighter/darker), a highlight powder, brow wax cream, an angled eyebrow brush and a few plastic eyebrow stencil applicators (if you choose to use) to help define your brow shape. My brows have never been the same since – in a good way.

Price? $51.00

7. L’oreal Telescopic Mascara – I’ve tried a heck of a lot of mascaras over the years, from one’s that made me look like I’ve had spider legs on my eyelids to chunks of black crap. I think mascaras are an important part of any make up look – it instantly makes you look more awake and alert – and God help us we know we need all the help we can get in the early mornings. This mascara lengthens and separates while adding volume to your lashes all at once. I usually apply 2 coats considering I already have long lashes, but need more of the volume aspect. I definatley prefer this mascara over any high-end one hands down.

Price? $11.99

If you have a chance, give these products a try – I’m almost 100% sure you won’t be disappointed.
